What You Should Know About Yamaha YPG535
If you are looking for a portable piano, you should take a look at the Yamaha YPG535. It is easy to carry, and very lightweight. It only weighs 40 pounds. Unlike some of the bulkier portables, this can easily fit into the trunk of a medium sized car.
It has all of the bells and whistles that you would expect from a Yamaha.
One of the best features is the stand which is included. It has a power adapter, and a sustain pedal, and it actually bolts to the piano. It is very easy to put together, but if you plan on traveling with the instrument, you may want to consider a portable stand. When the piano is attached to the stand it is pretty sturdy, and not very easy to move.
There is also a bench that you can buy separately. Just lift the top, and you can store your music inside.
Customer Review: First, let me say that this is a solid product for a very good price. It’s highly portable, even once you set it up. I’m not sure how much it weighs, but I’m a 5’3″, 95lbs person, and I can lift and carry this piano with a medium amount of effort. It’s got a full keyboard, and has hundreds of different sounds effects, as well as a pretty good volume range and a jack that you can plug your headphones into if you want a little bit of privacy (although, you have to buy an adapter for your headphone jack). There are 88 piano style keys, and hundreds of different sound effects along with tons of features. You will need to spend some time trying out all of the different sounds before you take it on the road, but you have to do this with all multiple voice instruments. It features a large backlit LCD display which is easy to read, and shows lyrics, notations, and chords. The graded soft hammer touch allows you to change the sound of an instrument, or add vibrato to your songs. There are 9 types of digital reverb effects, 4 different choruses available, 26 harmonies, and 500 voices. That is an entire orchestra. The built-in database allows you to sample different songs, and add them to your own composition.
Customer Review: It has a super metronome which you can adjust the tempo of, set the number of beats per measure, adjust volume, etc. It records your performance which is nice, so my piano teacher can play something she wants me to learn, record it, then I can replay that when I’m practicing. If you are not sure of the best voice, or style, the database will select the most appropriate. You can record songs, and combine multiple tracks with the sequencer. One of the coolest features is the ability to download tunes from the internet. If you want your piano to remember the current set up, the registration memory will take a digital snapshot and save it for you. There is nothing worse than having to resave your tempo or accompaniment choices.
The special performance assistance technology makes sure that you have performances that sound great, and are error free.
Beginner Friendly
If you are a beginner, you will be playing like a pro in no time, as the YPG535 has interactive lessons that are built-in, and best of all, you can learn at your own pace. Learning has never been so much fun, and so easy.
The soft touch 6-track sequencer is really smooth, and the built-in metronome is an added bonus, as it adjusts the tempo, and can set the number of beats per measure. The bend pitch wheel is a great feature, which allows a player to modify the sound.
The keys are slightly weighted, which makes you feel like you are playing a standard sized piano, however, if you play higher on the keys, you will notice that they are more difficult to press. This might just be the way that the keys were designed.

The Yamaha has built in speakers, which is an advantage, as you do not have to hook it up to an amplifier. They do have a tendency to distort if you crank up the volume. If you keep the volume at low to medium, you will be just fine.
You can quickly customize your sounds and play chords and various instruments at the same time, or on split keys. One of the best features is the easy song arranger. This allows you to choose any style to play your song. If you are playing a folk song, you can change it to rock and roll, or a simple ballad. If you want your new composition to have a hip hop feel, just use the easy song arranger. You can also alter the melody, and keyboard voice giving the song a totally different sound.
Conclusion
All in all, the Yamaha YPG535 is a great instrument for the beginner, or intermediate player and you cannot beat the price. If you are a professional, you may want to spend a bit more money, and go for something that has a few more features.
